Interested in a career in real estate?

Being a realtor has its benefits. If you are good with people and have a desire to learn a new skill, you can make as much money as you are willing to work for. It's one of those professions that you get out of it what you put in. A real estate agent is considered an independent contractor so you can make your own hours! Although this may sound nice, the downside is that a paycheck is not guaranteed at the end of each week. To be successful in this business you have to want to make money (who doesn't) and be willing to fail a few times before you succeed.

How to become a realtor:

1. Meet the Broker
Set up a time to meet with Bill and Kody Sprague or Tina Lavrey to learn a little more about Realty One Briardale and the benefits of being an agent with us.

2. Register for the NYS 75-hour qualifying course.
There are a couple different locations that offer Licensed Real Estate Salesperson courses; the two most popular are Western New York School of Real Estate and the Cusack School. Once you complete the required 75-hour course, you will be required to take, and pass, a short exam. Don't worry, it's not as bad as it sounds. Cost: depending on where you go, $220-$350

3. Take the State Exam
The NYS Real Estate Salesperson exam is administered every Tuesday by the Department of State at 65 Court St. in Downtown Buffalo. Cost: $15 (no cash!)

4. Apply for a License
After you receive your "PASSED" slip from the Department of State, you can activate your license online at the DOS website (eaccessny). Cost: $50

5. MAKE MONEY!

As of July 1st, 2008, you must complete a 75 hour qualifying course. If you would like to learn more about becoming a realtor with Realty One Briardale, call Kody at (716) 258-0613.
